my burn

I had a great visit with my mom. I think we are both happy that she is home though. For her entire visit she slept on the couch because the twin bed or air mattress wasn't easy for her to get on and off of. So she was looking forward to sleeping in her own bed! :) The pictures are just a few of my favorites.

I had a temp job today moving cars from the Nissan dealership to the Sam's Club parking lot. I had a lot of fun actually and got to drive some pretty sweet cars. :) Met some pretty cool people. So hopefully they will need help again on Monday to do the same thing, only backwards.

This will be it for now. There is a massive storm right over my house right now. Kinda scary. :( power has gone out once so far, so I went around and lit some candles. I am going to wait for it to pass to go to bed. This could be a long night!

almost the end of a great visit

My mom has been here for just about 2 weeks now and it doesn't feel that long at all. She had some time with Brad before he left so that was nice, but for the most part I've had her to myself. We haven't done anything real big. We've gone out to dinner maybe 3 times and lunch to a few places. She got to experience a drill weekend and meet the other Army spouses I am getting close with. We've had a nice dinner with Rachel ( the housemate ) and her girls. In between all of that, we've hit up some fabric stores. My mom is determined for me to be as interested in quilting and sewing as her and I'm not sure it's going to happen. But I felt the same way about cooking and now I love to try new recipes. So who knows.
I did discover something called quilt magic though. It's essentially a Styrofoam shape with lines cut in it that form a design. I started small with a 6x6 yellow ribbon design. Once I completed that I moved on to bigger and better things and I did an american flag. I guess if you really want to see what I'm talking about just Google 'quilt magic' and you'll see what I mean.

We ventured up to Red Lodge and spent a few hours there. For the 4th of July Brad and I went camping near Red Lodge so we had to drive through it. Driving through it seemed a lot bigger than it really is, so we didn't spend as much time and I thought we would up there. We walked both sides of the street, had lunch and was done. There are quite a few relators offices. I believe my mom counted 6 or 7. The candy store is pretty impressive. We spent some quality time in there and my mom got a few of her favorite candy from when she was younger. Had great mexican food at Bogarts and went along our way. We made it home just in time to go to Softy's and get some ice cream and come home to an Air conditioned house.
I went out that night with my dear friend Tracy for some girl (younger girl) time. We went to power hour and people watched. It's soo funny to watch drunk people. We got quite a few good laughs.
Saturday, Tracy and my mom and I drove about an hour ( not sure what way, west maybe ) to Cooney Dam and worked on our sunBURN. It didn't feel bad and Tracy and I were bragging that we don't burn . . . and what did we do? My chest has never been this red in I don't know how long. My scar from my surgery hurts because it's burnt! :( Tracy drove because her AC works in her car and boy were we all very thankful for that. We went our separate ways and she came back over for dinner and then we went out to have another girls night only with more girls this time. We met up with a few of Tracy's friends who I hope to call friends sooner than later instead of acquaintance's. One of them attended Eastern Washington University. Small world. We always end up at the West, which is a country style bar that has a rather large dance floor and lots of country swing. A nice young man asked me to dance last night and he spun me all around the dance floor. It is soooo much fun to twirl and turn and be dipped. It's a rush! : )

My mom leaves on Tuesday night for home and I can't decide if I'm happy or sad. Don't get me wrong, I love having my mom here, but I'm also ready for some alone time. I feel like I've been entertaining people for close to an entire month. I'm ready to just have some megan time.
I have an FRG meeting tomorrow morning and we are going to start the prep for the family picnic in september before they leave. Posters and flyers to be made tomorrow to get the ball rolling. Lets hope we can get a lot of people there to have one last get together before they all leave for a year.

Brad found out he'll be gone for 400 days. For all the other times he has been gone for long-ish periods of time I've made a count down system with index cards. When he was gone for boot camp and AIT I made them and it made time feel like it went faster. So, I went out and bought 400 index cards and I finished the last of them today. I guess I never really fathomed how big of a number 400 is. Not to mention, I got almost done with the 200's when I discovered that I was doing the 300's again! lol. So I re-did them on the back. Silly Megan.

I guess that's enough of an update for now. I'm excited for Brad to come home in two weeks. This time I'll be attached to the hip with him. I only have a few more days with him before he leaves for those 400 days.

oops, haven't written in a while

So a quick update.

I didn't get the job at KOA! :( They found someone that was better qualified, however they really liked me. So I guess that's a plus. In the mean time, family has been coming out to visit us while Brad is home. His parents came for a few days and we had a very enjoyable visit! It was great to see them. We went frisbee golfing and shooting! lol. Brad and Don went shooting and Ferol and I watched. Don got Ferol to shoot brad's big gun and it was the best thing i've ever seen. There are pictures to prove it that i'll post later.

We had a couple days to ourselves and then MY mother came out and is still here. I've enjoyed my time with her. We have gone to many quilt stores and she is getting me into some new crafts to keep myself occupied while Brad is gone.
Brad is currently in New Jersey at Fort Dix till August 2nd. I looked on wunderground.com ( our choice weather website ) and the humidity there is like 85%! yuck. It's also not supposed to get lower than 70's the whole time he is there!! Not ideal weather.

As for today, my mother and I are venturing up to Red Lodge to see the tourist town and have an enjoyable day. We didn't do ANYTHING yesterday and it was quite nice! :)

I'll try to not neglect this as much as I have been and post pictures of the going's on of the Irelands soon.
